EAST BRIDGE CLOSURE UPDATE    20 January, 2017

Just to let you know that Surrey council Council have sent us through an update regarding the bridge closure

They are aware that some of the road closure signs have been moved by drivers to get accross and have reiterated that the bridge crossing will need to remain CLOSED for the time being, until they find a temporary solution to ensure the safety of drivers using the bridge. They propose the following:

1) To set up a more robust closure on the bridge section.
2) Check the diversion route
3) Arrange variable messaging signs to be placed at appropriate locations in advance if the bridge (so that drivers can take an alternative route if they would like to)
4) Pedestrians/ cyclist can use the bridge for walking across
5) They have applied for a 15mph reduced speed limit over the bridge
6) They are assessing the level of temporary repair that can be done, in order to re-open the road, but this could some time to resolve as safe methods of working need to be addressed for the workforce.
7) Surrey CC will need approval from the Environment Agency and English Heritage for temporary and permanent repairs.

8) The bridleway located between the bridge and weir is open

If there are any issues over the weekend with the closure please call Surrey County Council hub 0330 3332126 or e-mail surrey.controlhub@kier.co.uk and please cc clerk@tilfordpc.org.uk

Further updates will follow when available
